The Great Mouse Detective is an animated film produced by Walt Disney Productions. It was released theatrically on July 2,1986 and follows the brilliant Basil of Baker Street as he attempts to stop the villainous Professor Ratigan. Directed by Burny Mattinson, David Michener, John Musker, and Ron Clements, this film was inspired by Eve Titus’ “Basil of Baker Street” book series and became an important success during Disney’s animation revival of the 1980s.
